UK and Ireland OXE distributor, Proteum, signed this morning at Seawork a contract with Shetland based Flugga Boats for nine OXE 150hp diesel outboard engines. They will power the four new 8.5m Flugga work boats due to enter service later this year with a seafood farm.
OXE Diesel is the only high power diesel outboard currently in service. The decision by Flugga to buy OXE has been driven by the desire to address the safety issues and logistic challenges associated with using petrol in remote areas, typical of the aquaculture industry.
Jack Barclay, Managing Director of Flugga Boats said, “Our seafood customer wanted to address the risks caused by transporting and storing petrol. OXE offered the obvious solution and its reliability has been proven in service”.
Proteum’s Andrew Tait, based in Aberdeen, said, “We’re delighted Flugga selected OXE Diesel for this contract. This will be Proteum’s second OXE customer in the fish farming sector, where it offers significant benefits”.
OXE is the only high performance diesel outboard in service worldwide and available in 125-200hp options with 250hp and 300hp coming in 2020.
