Installation and Service
Proteum’s highly skilled engineers have been diligently working this week at our facilities in Hamble, servicing a 13HPE FNM inboard engine coupled to an Alamarin AJ160 water jet. They have also successfully installed a state-of-the-art Glendinning control system, showcasing their expertise and dedication.
With the recent completion of the training provided by Alamarin, our engineers have efficiently installed the new system. The boat will soon be back in action, crossing the Solent to the Isle of Wight, where the customer is eagerly waiting to use it for fishing and family entertainment.
Proteum undertakes servicing and engineering globally to support our customers; if your company requires support, please get in touch with Ben Allan to learn more about our capabilities.
Training
Proteum were delighted to offer Ian & Craig Macleod the opportunity to undertake OXE training at our facilities here at Hamble Point Marina. After taking the 700-mile-long drive South from Stornoway, Ian & Craig quickly settled in and got to grips with the training aids we utilise, this includes stripping down a powerhead, replacing the belts and carrying out servicing and diagnostics.
At the end of the training, Craig expressed:
“We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Proteum; the team’s vast technical knowledge and experience made getting to grips with the OXE outboards a breeze. We’re looking forward to growing the OXE presence in the Hebrides and working alongside Proteum.”
This positive response to Proteum’s training underscores the quality of our skilled engineering team and the potential for future collaboration.
Although M&M Engineering officially began trading in its current form in 2022, the story of their expertise dates back to the late 80s when Ian ran a successful Macleod Marine business. Starting as a one-person operation, it rapidly expanded to support MOD installations and repairs, becoming a leading agent for Bauduoin Engines. Fast forward to today, Ian has joined forces with his son Craig, who has a wealth of experience in engineering. This unique blend of experience positions M&M Engineering as the ideal partner for sales, service & support for the growing number of OXE Marine engines in the Outer Hebrides. Our next twin OXE 200hp installation is expected to arrive early 2025.

METSTRADE 2024
Simon & Neil from Proteum travelled to Hoorn, Holland, in November to attend the OXE Marine global distributors meeting & METSTRADE. On Monday, OXE Marine distributors met at the Tideman Boats factory to tour the facilities as well as sea trial four HDPE boats built by Bruno Tideman. These included a 12-meter crew transfer vessel with twin OXE 300hp installation, a vessel designed for efficient and safe crew transfers in various marine conditions. Undoubtedly, the star of the show was the 9.00-meter craft with the now production-ready 300hp Jet-Tech.
The OXE Marine Jet-Tech, a unique innovation, incorporated the 3.0 litre 6-cylinder BMW powerhead, gearbox and mid-section of the standard engines but delivered the drive through a patented jet drive; the performance was simply stunning with superb acceleration and pinpoint steering.
Designed for FRC (Fast Rescue Craft) or vessels operating in shallow water, the OXE Marine Jet-Tech has successfully completed its testing and development stage and is now available to order; for more information, contact Simon Barnet, Proteum Sales Manager.
