Ecocharger Electric Quad bikes now available in Australia and New Zealand

Ecocharger is delighted to announce that the Ecocharger electric quad bike is available in Australia and New Zealand.

Managing Director, Michael Halloran said “We are excited to be bringing this technology to the local market. The Ecocharger quad is not simply an alternative to petrol bikes, but a genuine leap in technology. With performance that at least matches its petrol cousins, it is a game changer. And it’s not just the obvious peace, quiet, clean air and lack of jerry cans that you will notice. The regenerative braking, the lower centre of gravity and the cool, non-sparking engine, provide some safety features that just aren’t achievable on a petrol bike.  On an Ecocharger you will truly stand out, very quietly, amongst the crowd.”

Two variants of the Ecocharger are being built and sold in Australia and New Zealand; the 4WD Eliminator and the 2WD Dominator. Both come equipped with a class leading 72V, 15kW engine that provides ample power and torque across the speed range.

The versatility and mobility of the Ecocharger is backed by European design quality and the quads are being built locally in Australia, so buyers can be assured of quick and effective support.

The Ecocharger quad bikes are zero emission and have a low noise signature, so are well suited to areas that are sensitive to emissions or for buyer’s who want to enhance their green credentials.

Halloran says the Ecocharger makes economic sense as well: “We have had a number of bikes operating in Australia and New Zealand for the last six months and this has given us great confidence.

The maintenance on an electric vehicle is substantially less than a petrol vehicle and this means lower maintenance costs and reduced down time. With a range of around 40km to the charge, that’s the equivalent of 6 or 7 litres of fuel on the average petrol quad bike – all for just $1 of electricity.”

Proteum announces availability of production OXE Diesel at Aquaculture UK and Skipper Expo International

UK & Ireland distributor Proteum, part of SC Group, is announcing the availability of production OXE Diesel engines in stock to meet customer demand at the consecutive Aquaculture UK and Skipper Expo International shows later this month. OXE is the first diesel outboard in the 150-300hp class to be fully approved for commercial use.

Since the first pre-production OXE Diesel units entered service in 2016 following trials with launch customer, Marine Harvest, the engine design has been enhanced based on customer feedback from operators in applications including commercial fishing, ferry, cruise ship launch craft and border protection.

Inverness based Caley Marina has become a service partner to Southampton based Proteum to support OXE into service in Scotland and is currently operating an OXE powered workboat on Loch Ness for product familiarisation and training.

Caley Marine Director, Jamie Hogan said, “As the first high power diesel outboard, OXE is an exciting new product for Caley’s customers in Scotland’s aquaculture and fishing community”.

OXE Diesel offers commercial marine operators the range and performance they require and the benefits of diesel’s lower maintenance, longer service life, lower fuel consumption and lower volatility for safe storage on board and on land.

Proteum, which provides marine engineering and support services, is also UK & Ireland distributor for Moteurs Baudouin and is showcasing the latest addition to Baudouin’s range of mechanical inboard engines, the 600-750 hp M33.2 available in six and twelve cylinder versions. Proteum is also displaying the 130hp four cylinder W 105M, which is proven in service as a generator, propulsion and auxiliary engine in fishing, small ferry, workboat and other commercial marine applications.

This year Baudouin is celebrating a 100 year heritage as a dedicated marine engine designer and stated its commitment to future development and production of mechanical engines to meet the needs of fishing skippers and customers operating in remote regions.

Proteum is also highlighting the availability of Baudouin engines which are built to an annual forecast, as opposed to an individual order, enabling distributors to maintain stock and deliver a new engine within tight schedules.

Visit Proteum on Stand 43 at Aquaculture UK, Aviemore, 23-24 May and on Stand 135 at Skipper Expo International, Aberdeen, 25-26 May.
